Talk:Mike Wolfe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Actually the point about the defaced ballot papers is somewhat exaggerated. In the Returning Officer's report at the declaration over 6,500 ballot papers were merely blank. Of the remaining 3,000 some 2,000 were not counted because of a variety of reasons:- unclear intention - i.e. voting only for a second choice candidate, voting for more than one first choice candidate etc. The number of defaced papers i.e. papers with a comment about the Elected Mayor position or writing in the name of a Party or group without a candidate in the election numbered around 1,000. It is not clear though what relevance this has to Mike Wolfe's final position in the ballot. Incidentally, he came third after the first count was completed, not fourth.
- Perhaps the comment should be changed to "wasted votes" - Blank Ballot papers are none the less deliberate, and interesting to see on that scale.
- It was my understanding that he had come 4th in the first ballot (not making into the second ballot), he finished behind Labour, Consersvatives and the BNP. Beating the other three independent candidates.
This. I could of course be wrong - i'll find the relevent Sentinel article to double check this --Lostsocks
