Mikoto (命) is a character in the Samurai Shodown series.
[edit] History
[edit] Samurai Shodown Warriors Rage
Mikoto is a young woman born of an unnatural union between the human Shiki and Asura. Before she died, Shiki bequeathed the baby Mikoto to the Samurai master Nicotine Caffeine and his student, Haohmaru. As she grew over the years, Mikoto demonstrated inhuman abilities and skills whilst she learned a powerful fighting style that corresponded with her dual nature.
However, she was still only half human, and Mikoto, ashamed with the color of her eyes, fled Kokain Shrine where she was born and raised. She subsequently arrived in Ritenkyo with Tohma Kuki. Through Oboro's enticements she subsequently joined his scheme as a member of the "Three Blades of Domination". She used her heavenly powers to conduct religious services and rituals in which she was revered as a religious symbol (shrine maiden).
Eventually, Haohmaru set out on a quest to search for her, and when he reached Ritenkyo, he killed Oboro. Telling Mikoto of her parental origins, the two returned to the temple.
[edit] Trivia
- In Mikoto's ending, Haohmaru makes a reference to "granpa", an obvious title for Nicotine. This brings to speculation how old the characters are, as 20 years has passed since the original Samurai Shodown series, and Nicotine was already quite elderly in Samurai Shodown II.
