Mikkakan was a three-day anime fan convention held June 15-17, 2001 at the Radisson in Merrimack, New Hampshire. The convention featured a masquerade, video programming rooms, an artists' alley, karaoke, a game show, and several guests. Dozens of cosplayers roamed the halls.
Mikkakan was New Hampshire's first anime convention and the first anime convention in New England to feature a guest list.
Mikkakan had an attendance of 330 people. (15 of whom had pre-registered ahead of time.) It held the record of being the largest anime convention in New England until Anime Boston passed 330 pre-registered attendees in August 2002.
Mikkakan's mascot was named Mikka-chan.
The name "Mikkakan" roughly translates into "three day event" in Japanese.

[edit] The Future of Mikkakan
A date was set for Mikkakan 2002 for the July 26-28 weekend. Unfortunately, Otakon changed their dates for that year and ended up moving onto Mikkakan's weekend. Not wanting to compete with the largest anime convention on the East Coast, Mikkakan was cancelled and never set another date.
Most of the staff members and many attendees are now part of Anime Boston.
Many of Mikkakan's attendees still refer to the convention as one of the best that they have ever attended.
