Mikhail Dolivo-Dobrovolsky

Mikhail Osipovich Dolivo-Dobrovolsky (Russian: Михаил Осипович Доливо-Добровольский; January 2 1862 [O.S. December 21, 1861] in Saint-Petersburg — November 15, 1919 [O.S. November 3]), was a Russian engineer, electrician, inventor, developed the first three-phase generator and three-phase motor (1888) in the world, studied star and delta connections. The triumph of his three-phase system fell at the Frankfurt Electrician Show of 1891, where Dolivo-Dobrovolsky used this system to transmit electric power at the distance of 175 km. In 1891 he also created the first three-phase transformer and short-circuited induction motor. He was also the author of many other inventions and discoveries.
