Mike Watt (ice hockey)

Mike Watt (born 31 March 1976) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who has played for four different National Hockey League teams. He has spent the last three seasons playing in European leagues.

[edit] Playing career

Mike Watt was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in the second round, 34th overall. He spent the next three seasons playing in the NCAA for Michigan State University. He joined the Oilers for the 1997–98 season in which he played in 14 games, scoring only one goal. During the off-season, on 18 June 1998, the Oilers traded him to the New York Islanders for goaltender Eric Fichaud.

After bouncing between the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters and the NHL's Islanders for a couple of seasons, he was traded to the Nashville Predators for Mikhail Chernov on 24 May 2001. Watt played only 18 games for the Predators in 2000–01, scoring one goal. He did not play again in the NHL until he suited up for five games for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2002–03. Since then, he has played the last three seasons in Europe.
