[edit] Biography

Michael Trampenau was born in Denmark, and grew up in Vesterbro with his single mother and two brothers, Dennis and Kim. Mike started his musical career singing in a youth group club in Copenhagen called Vesterbro Ungdomsgård, and appears on their first album: Vi lever på Vesterbro (1974). Later he was the lead singer of the pop band Mabel, who recorded four albums and was popular in Denmark and Spain, with Mike receiving "teen idol" status. In 1978 Mabel won the Danish Melody Contest with the song Boom Boom and represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest that year. Mabel moved to New York City in the late 1970s, but soon broke up. After the demise of Mabel, Tramp met Vito Bratta and formed White Lion.

After the demise of White Lion in 1992, Mike fromed the rock band "Freak of Nature", who released three albums. In 2005, Tramp organized a group of musicians and named the act Tramp's White Lion, playing only White Lion songs. TWL toured during 2005 and put out a double-live CD entitled Tramp's White Lion: Rockin' In The USA. Following a dispute with former bandmate Vito Bratta regarding the rights to the name "White Lion", Tramp disbanded TWL and returned to his solo career.

The style of his music these days is pure rock, reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty but with a bit of a harder edge to it. Lyrically he often writes about his life and therefore his songs often have a high emotional level. Mike still continues as a solo artist and now lives in Australia.

According to MelodicRock.com, Mike Tramp's White Lion — the classic rock band led by singer, songwriter and founder of WHITE LION, Mike Tramp — has lined up the following UK dates in December:

Dec. 09 - Club Z Rocks – Wigan, UK Dec. 10 - JB's - Dudley, UK Dec. 11 - Camden Underworld - London, UK Dec. 12 - Corporation - Sheffield, UK

TRAMP'S WHITE LION's lineup for the tour will be the same as that on the last tour and live CD: Mike Tramp vocals and guitar Jamie Law on guitar Claus Longwood on bass Troy P. Farrell on drums and Henning Wanner on keyboards.

Back in November 2005, Tramp announced his plans to "permanently" retire TRAMP'S WHITE LION, stating, "I had put TRAMP'S WHITE LION together for a reason. That reason was giving the fans what they had been asking for all these years. Unfortunately, promoters are not backing this up and no one seems to be confident enough to make a leap of faith to help make this thing happen. This was my final attempt in continuing the legacy of WHITE LION. So from now on, there will be no more looking back at the past, this was the final roar. I will now focus only on my solo career and will take my time finishing my new solo album that will be released sometime next year. I will work on other ways of presenting Mike Tramp live, from intimate acoustic settings to a full band and will be touring whenever it feels right but only when all parameters are in order. Until then, enjoy TRAMP'S WHITE LION 'Rocking the USA' double album out on Frontiers Records now."
