Mike Taylor (musician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mike Taylor was a jazz composer, pianist and co-songwriter for the band Cream.

In his early career, Taylor released two albums - Pendulum in 1966 (with Jon Hiseman, Tony Reeves and Dave Tomlin under the name The Mike Taylor Quartet) and Trio in 1967 (with Jack Bruce and Jon Hiseman).

Despite his brief recording career, Taylor found his greatest success and notoriety as a result of his songwriting collaborations with Cream drummer Ginger Baker on the songs "Passing the Time", "Pressed Rat and Warthog" and "Those were the Days" for the band's 1968 album Wheels of Fire.

Taylor drowned in the River Thames in January 1969, at age 31.
