Michael J. Stoops (born December 31, 1961) is the head football coach at the University of Arizona, his first head coaching position. He previously served as the assistant coach at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University and the University of Oklahoma. He is the younger brother of Oklahoma head coach, Bob Stoops. He has been coaching for 18 years, and his teams have won nearly 80% of their games.[citation needed] He is a defensive minded coach; as an assistant his teams have put up great defensive numbers. This trend is expected to continue at Arizona as more of his own recruits mature and see playing time.
