Mike "Sheppy" Shepherd, born 1979, is a music producer and head engineer of Lakewind Sound. He was born and raised in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. He graduated from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) in 1998.
Shepherd started working at the studio soon after graduation. Studio owners Fred Lavery and Gordie Sampson, recognized the engineer's uncommon ability and in 1999, within six months of being hired, Shepherd was made the studio's head engineer[1]. The following year Lakewind Sound won the East Coast Music Awards "Studio of the Year" award[[2]] and the studio would go on to win an unprecedented six more consecutive awards. The studio would also win five MIANS "Studio of the Year" awards. Shepherd has been nominated in engineer/technician categories of the ECMAs, Music Nova Scotia and it's predecessor MIANS[3]. He received the "Engineer of the Year" award from Music Nova Scotia[4] in 2005 and 2006. His clients have included Damhnait Doyle, MIR, and Nick Van Eede (Cutting Crew frontman). Shepherd owns his own graphic design company Blazed Media Designs and has designed many album covers and artists' websites. As well as engineering he has produced recordings.
