Mike Merlin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mike Merlin is a Big Bang Comics character who first appeared in Big Bang #21 of the Image Comics range, during a crossover with The Savage Dragon.
[edit] Merlin in the Roundtable
Like the Merlin to the Knights of the Round Table (Who he is descended from), Mike Merlin is the mascot to the Roundtable of America, and usually acts as a backup during missions. If a member becomes weak, Mike can revive them or use his magic to help out although his magic isn't entirely up to scratch.
In a fictious article about Mike Merlin by the Big Bang publishers, Mike changed into a woman while in the Roundtable, and his/her magic was now almost perfect and even more powerful. Under the alias of Miss Merlin, the Roundtables' suspicions grew, and it turned out Merlins' sex-change and power boost were the result of being possessed by a mystical sorceress. Needless to say, Mike regained control and changed back to normal after the Sorceress was defeated.
Mikes' personality is an unusual one. His dialogue seems to be a mixture of Beatnik slang and the Mod (lifestyle) culture popular in Britain in the 1960s'.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
As well as being able to fly and levitate, Merlins' magic is also capable of freezing water. The full talent of Mike Merlins' abilities has yet to be revealed.
Mike Merlin appears to be based on Snapper Carr with the addition of magical powers. His name Mike Merlin seems to pay homage to Mike Mercury, the hero from Gerry Andersons' Supercar (TV series).
