Michelle McGuirk is best known as Mike McGuirk, a ring announcer for the World Wrestling Federation from 1988-1992.

She is the daughter of NWA Tri-State promoter Leroy McGuirk.

[edit] Career

McGuirk's WWF debut was in April 1988 on WWF Wrestling Challenge (from Springfield, MA at the Springfield Civic Center). From her first moment, she became the object of ridicule from Bobby Heenan (he asked who was this new female announcer. Gorilla Monsoon said it was Mike McGuirk. "Her name's Mike?" Heenan said. "What's her brother's name? Sally?").

Once, Big Bully Busick started to harass McGuirk until Sid Justice's music started and he made short work of the Bully. She was also lusted after by Razor Ramon, who would try to force himself onto her prior to many matches. During a match between Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels, Sensational Sherri attacked McGuirk, threw her from her chair and then used the chair as a weapon against Savage.

She performed colour commentary on the Best of the WWF Volume 15, and did commentary on the WWF TV show All-American Wrestling with Bruce Prichard, Lanny Poffo and others. She was also the ring announcer on the WWF WrestleFest video game. The WWF Funniest Moments home video features a clip of her dancing with the Gobbldygooker.

At one house show, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan hit himself with his 2x4 (which he admitted during the Jim Duggan Shoot Interview). He threw the 2x4 in the air and it caught him square in the head and caused him to bust wide open because he was talking to ring announcer Mike McGuirk.

McGuirk left the WWF in 1992, reported by Penthouse magazine to be because she refused sexual advances made upon her by Vince McMahon, around the same time Boni Blackstone was hired as an interviewer. In October 2004, she appeared at Wrestling Reunion II in New Jersey.

[edit] Personal life

She was once married to Brian Blair of the Killer Bees, and is also divorced from Mark Mason. During her WWF days, she was often the travel companion to Sensational Sherri, and remains good friends with her to this day.
