Michael Anthony Magnante (born June 17, 1965, in Glendale, California) is a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball.
On August 22, 1997, Magnante struck out three batters on nine pitches in the ninth inning of a 6-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Magnante became the 20th National League pitcher and the 29th pitcher in Major League history to accomplish the nine-strike/three-strikeout half-inning.
Magnante was also discussed in "Moneyball" in which he was prevented from receiving his retirement benefits -- only a few days from retirement -- by the acquisition of Ricardo Rincon.
