Mike Holland (ski jumper)

Mike Holland (born December 11, 1961), is an American ski jumper who set the world distance record in 1985. His world record jump of 186 meters in Planica Slovenija held for 27 minutes before Finn Matti Nykänen passed his mark with a jump of 189 meters. With his jump of 186 meters, Holland became the first man to jump over 600 feet.

Mike Holland competed in the Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984 and in Calgary in 1988.

Holland had several top 10 world cup finishes including a 1st place finish in Bischofshoffen, Aut in 1989 and a 2nd place finish in Harrachov, Czh in 198?.

Mike Holland was a 5 time US national champion. His younger brothers Joe Holland and Jim Holland were also US national champions at nordic combined (Joe) and ski jumping (Jim) who competed on the world cup circuit and in the Olympic Winter Games.
