Mike Flores

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael J. Flores is one of the most prolific writers on Magic: The Gathering deck construction.

Flores has written articles on Magic: The Gathering for The Duelist, The Sideboard, the Usenet, The Magic Dojo, The Psylum Dojo, Neutral Ground, Brainburst and all of the major independent Magic sites. He currently writes weekly columns for MagicTheGathering.com, Wizards Official Site, and Star City Games, where he shares his insights, humor, and decks-in-progress.

Flores is also the regular color commentor on the Pro Tour webcasts. Acknowledged as a championship deck designer, he designed Jon Finkel's deck, Napster, for the 2000 US National Champsionship.

The first 10 years of Flores' writing were recently collected into a book, Michael J. Flores: Deckade "10 years of decks, thoughts and theory!" by Top8Magic.com.

Flores has qualified for the Pro Tour numerous times, but has never made the top 8 of any event. He has earned the nickname "bad player Flores" due to his continued failure to succeed at the top level of the game as well as his many play mistakes. He finished 26th at Pro Tour Charleston with teammates Steve Sadin and Paul Jordan, with an individual record of 11-3, proving that perhaps he has improved over the years.

Flores is also an avid comic book fan and aspiring artist. He is currently working on an Original Graphic Novel with Platinum Studios.
