Mike Farrar

Mike Farrar CBE is a senior manager within the National Health Service (NHS) and Senior Civil Servant, including a role as Chief Executive of West Yorkshire SHA. Previously Chief Executive of Tees Health Authority and Head of Primary Care at the Department of Health. During his time at the Department of Health, He was responsible for establishing Primary Care Groups, Primary Care Trusts and PMS. In addition he chaired the NHS Confederation GP Contract negotiating team that successfully negotiated the new General Medical Service contract and currently chairs the Strategic Health Authority Chief Executives' Group and is the National Programme Director of NHS Live.

As of 1 July 2006 he will be Chief Executive of the new North West SHA as part of the new centralised SHA structure.

Prior to working in the NHS, Mike worked for Grand Metropolitan UK Ltd and pursued early aspirations to play professional football and cricket.

He is also a member of the Board of Sport England.
