[edit] Political races
In November 2002 Czerwonka nearly won a seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives in the 43rd District against then-incumbent Paul Bather.
Later, he was selected by then Republican gubernatorial candidate Ernie Fletcher, and indirectly by the state Republican leadership, to place poll-watchers at 59 precincts in the 43rd district, to prevent fraud and electioneering at the polls.
This move was decried by the NAACP and the Democrat Party as an act of racism by Czerwonka and the Republican Party[citation needed]. These groups claimed it would discourage black voters from participating at all.
Czerwonka ran for Representative again in 2004, on issues such as government and school reform, and lost.
