Mike is a character from Capcom's fighting game Street Fighter.

[edit] Story

Mike was a former American heavyweight boxing champion who was banned from the professional ring for killing an opponent during a match. He participated in the first World Warrior tournament and was defeated by the eventual champion, Ryu.

[edit] Trivia

  • Despite Mike and Balrog having similar appearances, the same first name (Balrog's name in Japan is M. Bison, with the M standing for Mike, and he was originally meant to be based on Mike Tyson), and both had participated in the World Warrior tournaments in order to become wealthy, it has been suggested by some that they are two different characters. However, it has become generally accepted[citation needed] that Capcom didn't clarify this issue to avoid a lawsuit from Mike Tyson, and that the characters are one and the same. (The potential for a lawsuit was also the reason M. Bison was renamed to Balrog in subsequent Street Fighter games outside the U.S.)
  • Mike's stage is at Mount Rushmore.
  • There is a "secret file" in Street Fighter III where "Mike" can be seen hanging out with "Balrog" (M. Bison in Japan). [1] However, this image is non-canon as it features several characters repeated throughout (i.e., several Ken's, several Ryu's, etc).
