Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski

Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski (Belarusian: Мікалай Судзілоўскі, December 15, 1850 - April 30, 1930 was a Belarusian revolutionary and scientist.

Sudziłoŭski was born in Mogilev to a noble family. He studied at St.Petersburg and Kiev universities where he started his political activity. In 1873-1874 Sudziłoŭski was one of the organisers of the Kiev commune, a left-wing student organisation.

In 1875 Sudziłoŭski went to exile.

In 1877 he finished university in Bucharest.

In 1876 under the pseudonyme Nicholas Russel he took part in the Bulgarian April Uprising against the Ottoman Empire and was one of the organisers of the socialist movement in Romania.

In 1887] Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski moved to San Francisco and later to Hawaii and got U.S. citisenship.

In 1892 he was one of the founders of the Hawaii Homerule Party opposing Hawaii's joining the USA. In 1900 under the name Kauka Lukini Sudziłoŭski was elected Hawaii Senate President.

During the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski was activaly doing socialist propaganda among Russian war prisoners. Following the demands of Russia's foreign minister, the US Government cancelled his citisenship.

Last years of his life Mikałaj Sudziłoŭski spent in the Philippines and in China.

He was author of several works on medicine and sociology and was member of the American Genetics Society.
