Miguel Lifschitz

Roberto Miguel Lifschitz (born September 13, 1955 in Rosario), is the current mayor of the city of Rosario, province of Santa Fe, Argentina.

He obtained his degree at the Engineering Faculty of the National University of Rosario in 1979 and acted in the private field until 1989, year in which he became Director-General of the Public Housing Service (Director General del Servicio Público de la Vivienda) of the city of Rosario, with the socialist administration of Héctor Cavallero.

Working in various public offices, as Municipal Secretary-General (Secretario General de la Municipalidad), Public Services' Secretary (Secretario de Servicios Públicos) and General Cabinet Coordinator for the Municipality of Rosario (Coordinador General de Gabinete de la Municipalidad de Rosario), beetween June and December 2003.

Lifschitz run for Mayor of Rosario and was elected in the provincial elections of 7 September 2003 for the period 2003–2007, by only 5,000 votes over the next candidate. At the time a survey showed that he was known by only 35% of Rosario's citizens. In 2006 he acknowledged that he "absolutely does not discard the possibility" of running for reelection. [1]
