Miguel Iglesias

Miguel Iglesias Pino de Arce (born June 11, 1830 in Cajamarca, Peru; died November 7, 1909 in Lima, Peru) was a Peruvian soldier and politician who briefly held the presidency of Peru in 1885.
He is best remembered for being the author of the Grito de Montán, a proclamation of his intentions to negotiate a peace treaty with Chile over the War of the Pacific. The treatycalled for the return of the cities of Tacna, Arica and the Tarapaca region.
After the end of the war, he was defeated by Andrés Avelino Cáceres, turned over his post to Antonio Arenas and went into exile in Spain.
