Mieke Buchan is a LOGIE AWARD nominated TV host from Australia. Mieke's media career started in community radio at FBI in Sydney, she soon moved to web-cast tv/radio at www.thebasement.com, and then the world of television opened up to her at national station SBS. At SBS, Mieke began as a weekend sports reporter in 1998 and within a year she was anchoring the weekend edition of World Sports, a half-hour live, nightly sports news show. At the same time, she both hosted and produced her first sports magazine show, which aired on both SBS and Fox Sports. Mieke's TV career soon grew to include bi-weekly guest appearances on Beauty and the Beast (B & B), a long-running, and very popular, day-time talk-show. Her unconventional and intelligent aproach to reader's letters then scored her the gig as the face of Fox 8, where she hosted Entertainment EXTRA and Postcards for Paradise, along with live network specials like the 3 hour comedy broadcast Are You Good in Bed?. In 2002, Mieke was the on-field reporter at her first Superbowl in San Diego, for the Australian national game broadcast, on SBS. Since then she has been the on-field correspondent at every SB. In 2003, Mieke was commissioned to write, co-produce and host SPORTS SUNDAY for National Geographic, during the course of which she interviewed a cross-section of international sports stars. In late 2002 Mieke appeared on the cover of FHM magazine Australia, and the shoot was re-printed in several other countries thgroughout 2003. In 2004 "Mieks" appeared as the face and voice of the SYDNEY Summer tourism camapaign. In late 2004, Mieke moved to the Uniited States, soon after which she appeared on popular sports TV show Best Damn Sports Show Period for Fox Sports Net as a guest reporter. In 2004, also for FSN, she then co-hosted Championship Poker at the Plaza. Her next assignments for FSN were on Head to Head with James Brown, a 6o minutes styled sports magazine program. Mieke hosted indie web-tv show V2R, a live, 3 hour viewer video request show on MusicPlusTV.com throughout 2005. Mieke began hosting STC Previews, a film review and interview show, early 2004. STC is a stand-alone channel in 40+ countries outside the U.S. and launches nationaly stateside in August 2006. Mieke continues to host STC Previews, maintaining her irreverent approach to movies and their myriad of stars. Mieke was also signed as the face of The Tennis Channel in late 2005. She hosts travel and lifestyle show Destination Tennis, a "lifestyles of the rich and famous" styled program on the world pro tour. Mieke also contributes to live tournament coverage for TTC, along with co-hosting network specials such as Stars for Stars from Miami. Mieke taped Celebrity Poker at the Pechanga mid 2006. This series airs throughout 2006 on FSN. During her 8 years on-air, Mieke has interviewed stars from the worlds of music, film and sports, including: Anthony Hopkins, Susan Sarandon, Pierce Brosnan, Matt Damon, James Blake, Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova, Jeremy Roenick and Lleyton Hewitt.
