"Mierda" (Spanish; "Shit") is the title of a hip hop song recorded by the Spanish group Violadores del Verso. It was released in 1999 in a CD single of the same name.
[edit] The cut
"Mierda" is a 9 minutes and 53 seconds rap song, with lyrics in Spanish by Kase-O (Javier Ibarra) and music by R de Rumba (R. Cuevas) and Kase.O. Kase.O stated that many musicians limit their works to last three or four minutes, in an attempt to make them easier to be played in the radio. Kase.O doesn't expect commercial radiostations to air his lyrics, even though he accepted that four-minute convention. Besides, he believes he's got many things to tell, so he tends to record long pieces as raps go.
Kase.O does the whole vocal part of the theme, but a pair of sentences answered by a female voice.
[edit] Song information
The song lyrics start with an invocation to Poseidon and Calliope. Then Kase.O tells some stories about his life in Zaragoza and about his DJ R de Rumba. He goes on commenting and criticising Zaragozan hip hop scene. He does most of the rapping in a calm tone, until he mentions Metro (a rival MC, member of catalan hip hop crew Geronación). Suddenly, Kase.O changes: he speeds his flow up (though the instrumental part keeps its cool tempo), and increases the rate of curse words as he raps his anger against Metro.
[edit] The CD
The cover reads "Violadores del Verso V presenta a Kase.O en: Mierda" (Violadores del Verso presents Kase.O in: Mierda). Violadores del Verso crew is formed by four white males of Zaragoza. In a photograph inside, all four Violadores can be seen, but just R de Rumba and Kase.O take part in this record.
Music was recorded in Huesca by engineer Álvaro Britián, and published by Avoid Records.
