[edit] History
The first machines produced by Miele were the cream separator, the butter churn, and the tub washing machine all bearing the name "Meteor". Carl Miele, an exacting technician, supervised the manufacturing of the products to ensure performance and durability. Reinhard Zinkann apprenticed and tended the firm's finances and sales.
Miele expanded to the US market in 1983 with USA Corporate Headquarters in Somerset, New Jersey, before relocating to Princeton in 1998. Today products are manufactured in Germany and shipped to the United States. There are showroom branches in Florida, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Washington, Massachusetts, and two in California.
[edit] Products
The company currently produces domestic appliances and vacuum cleaners, commercial wet cleaning machines, lab glassware washers, dental disinfectors, and medical and parts cleaning washers.
Miele positions itself at the upper end of the market for domestic appliances, where competitors include GE Monogram, Sub-Zero Refrigerator, Viking Range Corporation, Dacor, Thermador, and Bosch.
[edit] Slogans
Miele's motto is "Immer besser" meaning forever better in German. The company also uses the slogan Anything else is just a compromise.
