[edit] HL2:EP2

In response to the message you left:

The edit I made reverted several things (take a closer look here). The "stupidity" I was referring to was not your use of "sense" in place of "silence", but the anonymous guy's changes under sections "Gameplay demo 3" and "Gameplay demo 4". That's why there's a comma in the edit summary. I guessed it might get mixed up, but no harm done.

And as for the "sense"/"silence" thing... let's just agree to disagree. I'd rather not get into a silly edit war when the article itself needs more work. It could do with trimming and restructuring, there's too much waffle. -- Shoejar 02:55, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

I haven't listened to your upload, but I've got the video of the demo in question downloaded off Steam, and I've watched it repeatedly both before and after the edits. I did go back and listen before making the edit back to "silence", so I haven't quite passed it off. It's just that I'd rather not bicker about things like that when there's more to be done. Personally, I'm three-quarters certain that it's "silence". I agree that there is room for it to be heard as "sense". Both work, really, which is why I'm not too fussed.
Actually, if the article turns out the way I'd like it to, then an entire layer of details would be removed so that: a) there's no arguing over minor details, and b) there's no clutter in the article. It needs to be made a lot more concise. I would prefer that we left out the blow-by-blow accounts of trailers and demos in the monotonous, droning style of "... this happens, and then this happens, and then that happens, and then this happens..." If people are interested in knowing the exact details, then they can go check the videos out themselves via Steam or Youtube. We should be economical and focus more on what the revealed information implies for the future of Half-Life, without speculating too crazily. -- Shoejar 03:24, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy cultural references

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I removed multiple speculations. Cheers! Deltabeignet 23:13, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the suggestion. Feel free to edit it as you please. Deltabeignet 05:08, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Basically, I enforce the no original research and verifiability rules whenever I see blatant speculation. However, as the policy states, exceptions are made for material "the accuracy of which is easily verifiable by any reasonable adult without specialist knowledge". In short, if it makes sense, I go easy on it. The first case (the Family Guy episode) was suspicious, as there was no evidence that forty-two was anything more than a random number. On the 'cultural references' section, I just cut what, at a quick glance, seemed like a coincidence. I wish I could say I had systematically fact-checked every one, but I didn't. (Really, I have no secret agenda to remove all speculation; just the worst offenders.) Cheers! Deltabeignet 06:33, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moving pages

Hello there. Regarding the stop and chat; there is a better way to move pages then to cut the contents of the old page and then paste them at the new location. Just click the "move" link that is located at the top of every page. After the move a redirect will automatically be created at the old location. This is the prefered method because with cut-and-paste moves the edit history of the page gets lost at the old location. But by using the move button then edit history moves with the page. Happy editing. Tnikkel 06:22, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fullbright Shadows

I can state, for a fact, that models do cast shadows in fullbright. However. I am developing for Counter-Strike Source, this may be different for Half-Life 2.

Did you test it in HL2?

[edit] Fullbright Shadows Screenshot

Here you go :)

It even has shadows casting through from the floor about due to the (then) lack of an info_no_dynamic_shadow_controller.

===THE LAUGH FACTORY===

I added the current events with Michael Richards due to the fact it is popular news and occurred at the Laugh Factory. It is the only major event to occur there that I know of(the article doesn't have anything else major happening there) and I feel that it is worth mentioning in this article, at least for the time being. Michael Richards' page has been blocked to new users, so I cannot edit that page.
