[edit] Location
Midwich Elementary School is located in the southwest corner of Old Silent Hill. Although it is presumed that there is more than one school in Silent Hill, Midwich is the only school that is actually shown in the series.
[edit] History
Before the strange occurrences in Silent Hill, Dahlia's daughter Alessa Gillespie was a student at Midwich and so was Lisa Garland.
In the 2006 film adaptation Silent Hill, Midwich is the school where Alessa Gillespie attended. After being accused for being a witch, Alessa ran off crying into the girl's bathroom which also had the school's Janitor Colin working at the time. She was presumably raped by Colin and attained a higher fear of men, influencing the creation of demons such as Pyramid Head and The Janitor in the darkness of Silent Hill.
[edit] Creatures and groups encountered
The following are descriptions of creatures and groups which are encountered by the protagonists in Midwich Elementary.
[edit] Groups
- The Miners (Movie Continuity Only) - The Miners are a trio group from The Order. They are first encountered by Rose before the second round of sirens go off releasing The Janitor from his lair within the girl's bathroom.
[edit] Creatures
The following is a list of creatures that have been known to appear in Midwich Elementary.
- Pyramid Head - (Movie Continuity Only) - Pyramid Head's first appearance is outside the girl's bathroom. Rose notices him when tiny creepers attack several members of the Order wearing mining outfits.
- The Janitor - (Movie Continuity Only) The Janitor is found in the girl's bathroom. This is where he allegedly raped Alessa. In the film, he is found tied up in one of the stalls with barbed wire and is severely mutilated.
- Mumblers - (Game Continuity) The mumblers represent the mean school-children that tormented her (as shown in their aggressive behavior) . These children wield knives, and make strange noises that are actually the slowed-down laughter of children.
- Stalkers - (Game Only) Harmless black shadows of small children. They squeak and run around, sometimes tripping. Though they can't affect the protagonist, they still trigger the radio. In early versions of the game, they could attack and be harmed, but this was removed in the final.
- Creepers - (Movie and Game Continuity) Thousands of creepers crawl around Pyramid Head in Midwich Elementary School where he first finds Rose. They are later seen swarming Silent Hill cult members and finally crawling through the hole made by Pyramid Head to attack Cybil and Rose. They are originally seen lurking around the school in Silent Hill 1 and around the town in Silent Hill 2.
- Split Head - (Game Continuity Only) The Split Head is a dragon-like creature that is conjured by Alessa from a memory of a children's fairytale. The Split Head is located and is fought by Harry Mason beneath the school in Silent Hill 1.
