Midnight in Moscow

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Midnight in Moscow is a song written by Vasilii Petrovich Soloviev-Sedoy (1907-1979)[1].

Although it was best known as Radio Moscow's station call for many years, and was a popular element in the repertoire of the Red Army Choir, it was a popular enough tune to be played by some bands in the West. The British jazz group, Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, had a hit with the song in 1962[2], and film exists which shows them playing it at a concert in Moscow.

[edit] Trivia

The British TV quiz programme Ask the Family was notorious for its stupid music questions. On one occasion, they played a piece of music, the quizmaster Robert Robinson then said: "Now that piece of music was called Midnight in Moscow. When it is midnight in Moscow, what time is it in London?".
