Midlothian Snowsports Centre

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Midlothian Snowsports Centre, formerly Hillend Ski Centre, near Hillend, Midlothian, Scotland, is Europe's longest artificial snowsports facility. It is made up of two main slopes, two 50m nursery slopes for beginners, and a jump slope. Uplift is provided by a chairlift and two tow ropes.

It is used for skiing, snowboarding and snowblading, and structured lessons are available for adults and children all year round.

All runs are made of matting that is suitable for use all year round, and floodlighting allows the slopes to be used in the evenings. A misting system makes sure the slopes aren't too sticky or dry.

During the winter season it is possible to hire ski or snowboard equipment for use at other Scottish ski resorts.
