[edit] Boundaries
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Derbyshire, the Boundary Commission for England has created a Mid Derbyshire seat. Neighbouring seats have had consequential border changes, with Erewash and Amber Valley two of the most affected.
The electoral wards used in the new constituency are:
- Little Eaton and Breadsall, Ockbrook and Borrowash, Stanley, and West Hallam and Dale Abbey from Erewash district
- Allestree, Oakwood and Spondon from the City of Derby
- Belper Central, Belper East, Belper North, Belper South and Duffield from the Amber Valley district.

The new Mid Derbyshire constituency will be fought at the UK general election in 2009 or 2010. The seat has been projected to have a notional conservative majority of almost 3,000.
