MIDIbox

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The MIDIbox project is an open source hardware and software MIDI platform built around the PIC18F(452) family of PIC microcontrollers. The MIDIbox Hardware Platform (MBHP) consists of a Core Module with midi interface that can be extended by a vast variety of I/O modules — and a MIDIbox operating system (MIOS) that can be customized by anyone able to read the documentation. MIOS supports programs written in C and/or Assembler. Programs can be uploaded by MIDI.

MIDIbox, like many open source projects, has a dedicated user community. Kits and PCBs are available.
