From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Microprofessor I (MPF 1), introduced in 1981, was Acer's first branded computer product and probably one of the world's longest selling computers. As of 2006, it is still being manufactured and sold by Flite Electronics International Limited in Southampton, England. The MPF I is a simple and easy to use training system for the Zilog Z80 microprocessor.
The MPF 1 does not look like a computer. The original version was enclosed in an vacuum formed plastic book case usually used to store a copy of language textbook and two audio cassettes as well as a training manual. When closed, the MPF 1 could be placed on a bookshelf for easy storage and looked just like a book.
Flite Electronics International Limited on the 24th Febuarary, 1993 purchased the intellectual property rights as well as the world-wide manufacturing rights to the named MPF-1B Microprofessor taining system.
