Michael Gordon Harford (born February 12, 1959), is an English football coach and former player. Born in Sunderland, Mick made his league debut for Lincoln v Gillingham in December 1977 and had spells with Newcastle, Bristol City, and Birmingham before transferring to Luton in December 1984. Cost a record Fourth Division fee of £200,000 moving from Lincoln to Newcastle in 1981. He was a member of the Luton team that won the Littlewoods Cup in 1988. Mick has on numerous occasions been voted the best ever Luton Town player, of whom the fans hold him in great regard. He also played for many other clubs including Chelsea, where he was briefly top scorer before being surprisingly sold. Right at the end of his career a small money move to Wimbledon F.C. got him a few more appearances and goals. Known as a bruising old fashioned centre forward, he did get to play a few times in his final year in central midfield. On one occasion he nearly scored from his own half. Under manager Joe Kinnear he went into coaching, but still always seemed to attend matches in his kit, ready to play. He followed Joe Kinnear to Nottingham Forest where he was briefly caretaker manager following Kinnear's departure. He has also briefly been in charge of Rotherham United. He is currently working as a coach at Colchester United.
