Michillinda Avenue (Pasadena)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Michillinda Avenue in Pasadena, California, basically marks the easternmost boundary of the city. It starts at its south end at Huntington Drive and continues north to a terminus at the base of the foothils of the San Gabriel Mountains. It has a total length of approximately 3 1/2 miles.
It is a compilation of the names of three states: Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. A man named Forbes, who laid out an early addition to Pasadena, was the son on one of the founders of an association of summer cottages in Michigan for which the name was created in the 1890's, originally hyphenated Mich-Ill-Inda.
Above the cross street of Orange Grove Avenue, it bounds the city of Sierra Madre. Below, it bounds the city of Arcadia.
