Michigan MAC Trophy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Michigan MAC Trophy is given to the Michigan Mid American Conference university, Central Michigan University (CMU), Eastern Michigan University (EMU) and Western Michigan University (WMU), which defeats the other two schools in the same sport in the same season. The Michigan MAC Trophy will remain with the winning school until one of the other rivals claims the title.

The crystal Michigan MAC Trophy was created in 2005 by the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and is given to the winners of the football and men's basketball rivalries. CMU, EMU and WMU have been competing together in the MAC since 1974 (although WMU joined the MAC in 1948).

Western Michigan University claimed the inaugural Michigan MAC Trophy for each sport.

The 2006 football trophy was given to Central Michigan after sweeping their games vs EMU and WMU. The 2006 basketball trophy will be awarded on March 1, 2007 upon conclusion of the EMU vs CMU game.
