Michael Urbano (born 18 March) is a studio drummer. He is best known for being drummer for alternative rock group Smash Mouth from 1999 to 2006. Urbano has been playing with the band since 2000 when original drummer Kevin Coleman left due to severe lower back pain. Before Smash Mouth, Urbano had played drums with Third Eye Blind and Sheryl Crow, among others, although Smash Mouth was the first band to have Urbano as a full member since the late 80's with Bourgeois Tagg, a 1980s band that was fronted by Brent Bourgeois and Larry Tagg. Lyle Workman was the guitarist for the band. They had moderate success with their second album, Yo-Yo, which was produced by Todd Rundgren, and featured the Top 40 hit, "I Don't Mind At All." When Bourgeois Tagg split, Michael, Larry, Lyle, and BT keyboardist Scott Moon recorded and toured with Todd.
In 2006 Urbano left Smash Mouth due to creative differences. He recently was found playing drums for a band called Lillix and is leading artist development at fuzz.com.
