Michael Thau

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Thau is a film editor and preservationist who is most notable for recent restoration work on the Christopher Reeve Superman films, Superman: The Movie and Superman II.

Thau oversaw the development of the Superman DVD release in 2001, editing the director's cut of the film. He also directed, produced and edited the three documentaries on that DVD, Taking Flight: The Development of 'Superman', Making 'Superman': Filming the Legend and The Magic Behind the Cape.

He has developed a working relationship with Superman director Richard Donner, and has just completed work on the long-awaited Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. Thau produced and co-edited (with original editor Stuart Baird) the new cut of the film, and was apparently also a key decision-maker in the re-cut.
