Michael Svensson

Michael Svensson (born 25 November 1975) is a Swedish professional football player who currently plays as a central defender for Southampton, and played in the F.A. Cup final in 2003, losing 1-0 to Arsenal.
Svensson started his career in his home country, playing for various Swedish clubs including IFK Värnamo and Halmstads BK. He was transferred to Troyes in 2001 and then moved to Southampton in 2002. Despite relegation from the Premiership in 2005, Svensson still plays for Southampton in the Football League Championship. Although due to a serious knee injury he has not been a regular in the Southampton line up for around 2 years, Killer as he is nicknamed by the fans, is hoping to return to full fitness in time for the start of the 2006/2007 championship season.
Svensson holds the honour of scoring the last ever competitive goal at Maine Road.
He has played 25 times for the Swedish national team.
