Michael Spencer

Michael Spencer (born May 25, 1990, Cincinnati, Ohio) is an aspiring floutist and Junior at St. Xavier Highschool in Finneytown. Though very young, he has embraced his talent for music and pursues it to the fullest. During the summer of 2006, he participated in Cincinnati Flute Symposium, a weeklong set of flute masterclasses that draws in young, highly talented floutists from around the world. Recently, he was nominated to represent St. Xavier Highschool in the 2007 Cincinnati Overture Awards. He hopes to double-major in flute performance and music education at the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music. He currently uses his flute expertise widely at St. Xavier. He is flute/clarinet section leader in the Marching and Pep Bands, as well as principal flute/ piccolo in the orchestra of Theatre Xavier, where over the last two seasons, has played the professional versions of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Les Miserbles. In his spare time, he enjoys running, swimming, and practicing his music. In addition to his high achievements in instrumental music, he is an accomplished vocalist. He currently sings Tenor I in St. Xavier's chorus, the XMen, and hopes to get into their select chorus, Something Blue next semester.
