Michael Ryan (born May 16, 1980 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA) is an American ice hockey forward. He was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round, 32nd overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Ryan's rights were traded by the Stars to the Buffalo Sabres, along with a draft pick, on March 10, 2003, in exchange for Stu Barnes.
After playing four seasons for Northeastern University, Ryan made his professional debut with the Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, in the 2003-04 season. He made his NHL debut with the Sabres on November 22, 2006 in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ryan scored an own goal in the second period and Sabres captain Daniel Briere told him afterwards that the team would make up for it. Briere was true to his word and scored the winning goal himself in a 7-4 victory.
