Michael Roach (footballer)

Michael Roach (born October 5, 1958) is a former Australian rules football player.
He came from Longfield in Tasmania and was recruited to the Richmond Football Club in 1978. He played on State of Origin representative teams shortly before that, and was selected for the All-Australian team in 1979.
He played full-forward and centre half-forward, twice winning the Coleman Medal in 1980 and 1981. He topped the Richmond goalkicking eight times from 1979 to 1987, and tied with Kevin Bartlett in 1983. He kicked several hauls of 10 and 11 goals.
After football, he is a mentor to young Tigers and a Richmond Life Member. His son, Thomas, is also an AFL player, recruited to the club under the father-son rule.
