[edit] Future Ambitions
On November 5, 2006, the last day of the Norwegian League, he declared that he has set his heart on a move to one of the top European leagues. Last summer, Lillestrom turned down an offer for Mifsud from English club Coventry City despite knowing that the striker will be able to move for free in January 2007 as his present contract is due to run out at the end of December. However it now appears that Mifsud will get his wish to turn out for a major European club by declining to sign a new contract with Lillestrøm S.K.. Besides Coventry CityEnglish Premierships Clubs Watford FC and Sheffield United, as well as Championship Club Leeds United are said to be interested in signing him on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract.
Sheffield United have now tied up the signing of Michael Mifsud. He will appear for the Premiership outfit in January 2007. He says that he wants to play against his favourite club, Manchester United, with Sheffield United.
Michael Mifsud's hobbies consist of smoking carob leaves in the halftime as well as drinking truckloads of absinthe before and after games. He is also rumoured to be dating Alfred Zammit of Kalamita fame and is also a fervent die hard labour supporter.
