Michael Madonick

Michael Madonick is a teacher of Creative Writing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2000, he published his first book of poetry, Waking the Deaf Dog. He has been published in numerous literary journals, such as New England Review, Black Warrior Review, and Boulevard and he received the Academy of American Poets' Prize.[1] He is well-known on the U of I campus for his gruff persona and salmon-pink polo shirts. His wife is the poet Brigit Kelly, a professor at the University.
