Michael Kaplan (actor)

Michael Kaplan (born October 13, 1946 in United States of America) is an American actor who has been featured or starred in many low budget independent films.

As an actor he plays a significant role as a sadistic British officer in the 2006 independent feature comedy The Deserter directed by Eric B. Borgman which was recently released to DVD.
Michael is also a military history buff and owns a large collection of military uniforms from many eras. He belonged to a Revolutionary War battle re-enactment group, the 10th Regiment of Foot for over thirty years, where he portrays a British soldier from 1775. He collaborated with novelist Mary J. Carter on her historical novel The Ruling Passion: Reflections on a Society Under Siege which tells a story that takes place during America's Revolutionary War years.
Michael usually plays military men and has done so on Spenser For Hire and the Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie April Morning, both starring Robert Urich. Michael lives with his wife in New Hampshire.
He has appeared in at least two films by the filmmaker Jerry Robbins including Desperate Rescue and Jungle Objective. In the black and white comedy Jungle Objective he portrays a Japanese soldier. Kaplan is featured in the Lisa Bourgoujian directed documentary The American Revolution which was written by Don Cambou.
When not acting or doing historical research Kaplan is part owner of one of New Englands oldest candle factories and he lives in New Hampshire with his wife of many years.
