From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael A. Jackson is a satellite project manager who ran as a Republican in the 2003 California recall, primarily getting votes due to sharing his name with that of pop singer Michael Jackson. Jackson garnered 746 votes, placing him 91st out of 135 candidates.

Four months later, during the March 2004 Republican Primary for the California State Senate to represent the 27th District (representing mostly Long Beach and southeast Los Angeles County) Jackson came in second with only 47% of the vote. Not facing any Republican primary challenge in 2006, he became the Republican nominee to challenge incumbent Bette Karnette to represent the 54th district in the California State Assembly.

Jackson was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to California with his family when he was young. He joined the United States Navy and served for ten years. After leaving the Navy, went to college. He graduated from Citrus College in 1994 with an Associate of Science degree in natural science. He then went to UCLA, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
