Michael J. Doherty

Michael J. Doherty (born May 24, 1963) is an American Republican Party politician, who has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2002, where he represents the 23rd legislative district.
Doherty serves in the Assembly on the Appropriations Committee and the Labor Committee. Previously, he has served on the Agriculture Committee and the Housing and the Local Government Committee.
Assemblyman Doherty has served on the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders since 2001, as its Director from 2002-2003 and as Deputy Director from 2001-2002. Dohertey served in the United States Army from 1985-1989 and in the United States Army Reserve from 1989-1993 with the rank of Captain.
Doherty graduated with a B.S. in 1985 from the United States Military Academy at West Point and was awarded a J.D. in 1993 from the Seton Hall University School of Law.
