[edit] Descendants of Charles Le Moyne

The living descendants of Charles Le Moyne, first seigneur de Longueuil, today consist of two branches, Longueuil and Sérigny :

  • Longueuil (the elder line), represented by the Grant family, subjects of the British crown, and by the Germain family.
  • Sérigny, represented by the "Le Moyne de Sérigny" family, whose arms were altered to indicate their cadet status.

The Barony of Longueuil (of Canada) was created 26 Jan 1700 by Louis XIV, King of France, for Charles Le Moyne, in requital of his eminent services to France, and his Lordship of Longueuil, in Canada, was erected into a Barony, with limitation to his french descendants male and female. The eleventh baron, Raymond David Grant, was a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, both of them being descendants of Claude Bowes Lyon and his wife Frances Dora née Smith.

  1. Marie-Charles-Joseph Le Moyne de Longueuil, only child of the third baron de Longueuil, married David Alexander Grant on 7 May 1781.
  2. Agnès Le Moyne de Longueuil, younger daughter of the second baron de Longueuil, married le chevalier Joseph de Germain (hero of Fort Carillon) on 11 December 1755.
