Michael F. Kitt, Snr (13th September 1914–24th December 1974) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and long-serving Teachta Dála.
He was elected to Dáil Éireann for the first time at the 1948 general election, but lost his Galway North seat at the next election in 1951, and failed to be elected again in the 1954 general election. Kitt was re-elected to Dáil Éireann for Galway North at the 1957 general election and at the next four general elections: for Galway East in 1961 and 1965, and for Galway North-East 1969 and 1973.
In the wake of the Arms Crisis in May 1970 Kitt was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Gaeltacht, serving in that position until 1973. He died in 1975, mid-way through the 20th Dáil.
His son, Michael P. Kitt was elected in the subsequent by-election. Kitt's other son, Tom, was elected to the Dáil in 1987 and is currently Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach. Kitt's daughter, Áine Brady, is also a member of Fianna Fáil and involved in politics while her husband, Gerard Brady, is a former Teachta Dála.
