Michael D. Protack (born 1957) is an American pilot and politician from Yorklyn, near Hockessin in New Castle County, Delaware. He is a member of the Republican Party. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for the United States Senate seat in the 2006 U.S. Senate election in Delaware, narrowly losing to Jan C. Ting, a professor at Temple University.

[edit] Early life and family

Protack was born in Delaware and grew up in New Castle, Delaware. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1975 and attended the University of Delaware, graduating in 1979 with a B.A. in international relations. After graduating, Protack served in the United States Marine Corps for ten years, becoming a platoon commander, instructor pilot, and executive officer of the Recruiting Station in Philadelphia. Protack has been married to Mary Ann Protack for 25 years and they have two sons, Clinton and Kevin. They live in Yorklyn, near Hockessin in New Castle County, Delaware.

Protack has been a Republican Party delegate and committee member for the Brandywine Hundred, Christiana Hundred and Mill Creek Hundred, all subdivisions of northern New Castle County, Delaware. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for Governor of Delaware in 2004.
