Michael D'Andrea Carter (born October 29, 1960 in Dallas, Texas), is a former U.S. Olympian and professional American football player. A 6'2", 285 lbs. nose tackle from Southern Methodist University, Carter was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round of the 1984 NFL Draft.
Carter won the silver medal for the U.S. in shot put at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. As a professional football player, he played his entire NFL career with the 49ers from 1984-1992. During his playing days in San Francisco, Carter was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and a three-time Super Bowl winner.

As a high school phenom on June 16, 1979, at the Golden West Invitational in Sacramento, California, Carter launched the 12-pound shot an unbelievable 81 feet, 3 1/2 inches to establish a mark for the ages. No prep has come within 5 feet since then.
