Talk:Miami mafia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Its imporance seems defined in the external link articles--that this group of alumni, including Rosenhaus, have worked collaboratively. MiamiDolphins3 19:05, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- The external link articles you mention are blogs, and the blog posts in question aren't even about the so-called Miami Mafia - they only mention it in passing. Let's leave the importance tag on here and see if can attract an editor who knows something about this group. -- No Guru 02:38, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed merge
This articles states that this is a group of "predominantly of high-profile University of Miami alumni who graduated from the university between the mid-1980s and early 1990s.", yey the only person mentioned in this article is Rosenhaus. Who are these people ? What are their names ? What makes them notable beyond being in this group ? Also, what specific things does this group do (that don't involve Rosenhaus)?
This content is already covered in the Drew Rosenhaus article and could be expanded a bit if need be but really this article should re-direct to the Rosenhaus article unless some more specific info can be provided. -- No Guru 15:46, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I am reapplying the merge template, adding the article to Proposed mergers, etc., despite the "strongly oppose" from one editor. Let's try to reach some sort of consensus (e.g., "Miami mafia" section on Rosenhaus' page). Rolando 16:06, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge
- Strongly oppose. The article is about this group, informal as it may be, not one person. In fact, the next step in the development of the article is to get more added on the non-sports stuff, like what sort of collaboration has existed in business, politics, or other areas. I added the sports stuff because that's my forte. But there is a lot more to this group's work, as I understand. MiamiDolphins3 00:13, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

- But who are these people? What are their names ? What do they do ? As it stands now there is no need for this article as it can be (and already is covered in the Rosenhaus one. -- No Guru 18:16, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Problem
The article states: "The Miami mafia is a name that has been given by the media to an influential group of alumni from the University of Miami" The Miami Mafia is a well used term referring to the network of Cuban exile leaders that have been linked with violence, terrorism and corruption. Try a Google search. There are literally 1000s of newspaper articles and books written about the Miami mafia in this context. --Zleitzen 17:37, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's not a "problem" unless an article is started on that topic, at which point a disambig page, or cross-reference will be helpful. MiamiDolphins3 19:58, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
