[edit] Integer partition

Hi Mhym and welcome to Wikipedia!

I'm curious why you removed a book from the bibliography section at integer partition. Is it rubbish? :) - Haukur Þorgeirsson 09:15, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Yep, this is a little college texbook, kind of like Combinatorics 101. They are dime a dozen. Mhym 05:44, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Charles Krauthammer

Hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of correcting Charles Krauthammer's place of birth in his article. I've looked at both the Time and Washington Post biographies on him, and they both list his place of birth as New York. Therefore I am led to believe that the article you provided the link to ("Today's Most Ardent American Imperialists...") is incorrect in its claim that he was born in Uruguay. --66.69.206.221 08:34, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

I wouldn't know, actually. I think someone else added this link - all I did was edit it to comply with the Wikipedia style. But I am glad you made an effort to clarify this. Mhym 17:17, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image of Foreign Affairs

I was meaning to do that for a long time and just when I went to actually put it I saw you beat me to it. It's good to see someone finally did it a journal such as Foreign Affairs needed at least an image! Thanks.--Jersey Devil 08:30, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Sure. This is one of those instances where the copyright is not an issue. I added images to a number of political publications just so people see what they look like. Mhym 15:12, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] invitation to WP:WPM

Hi Mhym! thanks you for your recent contribution to several articles on 20th century Soviet/Russian mathematicians, for not forgetting to cite your sources, and for finding the promotional images acceptable to illustrate these articles in the Wikipedia. May I suggest you add yourself to the Wikipedia Project Mathematics? Also (assuming you have not done so yet out of lack of time or modesty reasons), it would be great to have more words about you on your user page. (If you don't want to do that out of privacy conerns, that's fine, too; please ignore my last request if that's the case.) --BACbKA 08:40, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Colin_McLaughlin report on WP:RFI

Just in case you didn't see my response to that report- the user has been blocked, and for future reference a range of warning templates can be found at WP:TT. You might also find useful a guide to cleaning up vandalism. Feel free to ask me any further questions. Petros471 21:04, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scientists

You can replace it with the Jewish mathematicians category, as you have done. It is good to keep this sort of thing consistent and centralized. - Hasdrubal

Dear Mhym, see the Schur talk page. - Hasdrubal

[edit] Copyright problems with Image:DSarahyba.jpg

An image that you uploaded, Image:DSarahyba.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
The same applies to Image:EBenitez.jpg, Image:VenusWilliams.jpg and Image:SGraff.jpg. The problem is that you have claimed that these swimsuit photos are ads, but they are not. They are actual contents of magazines and are clearly marked "all rights reserved". Even if they were ads, the fair use does not apply, as you are not using them to promote or discussing the swimsuits, but instead using them in articles about models.
Also, please note that images you get from websites from universities and other institutions are not promo photos. Press releases are clearly marked as such, and promo images will come with license that explicitly say "free to distribute" or "for promotional use". That isn't the case for any of the photos you've uploaded. Thank you. Ytny 23:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Piotr Blass

Please see Wikipedia:Autobiography. That article needs copyedit, but I see no grounds for deletion. He seems notable enough according to the Google test ([1]), as well as he seems to be notable in the world of academia ([2]).-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  13:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Now on AfD, a google search on piotr blass FBI is very interesting. --Salix alba (talk) 19:25, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Oscar Niemeyer

Hi. I noted your comments on the Sarnak article and was wondering if you could help on List of Brazilian Jews. A user is keeping the name on the list because the following source calls Niemeyer "Jewish": [3] While an interview by Neimeyer himself quotes him calling his family "Catholic." [4] The user claims that that the sources do not conflict eachother because Niemeyer could have converted to Catholicism (or his family did, whatever). Is there any way you can help establish this [5] as an unreliable source? Not only is it clearly poorly put together, the site does not respond to any emails inquiring about the factual accuracy of their claims. Certainly an interview from the person himself should be seen as more legitimate than some random self-published website, however for some reason the Jewish source is given enough dominance to have Niemeyer remain listed on List of Brazilian Jews. Reason given for this bias is said to be because "wikipedia is not censored." Is there anything we can use to establish certain websites as unreliable? Especially the one that straightforwardly calls Niemeyer "Jewish" especially when no other website on the internet does so. 72.144.103.247 19:05, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Names

If you read alexander more carefully, you will see that it lists only persons that referredd to only by the first name: kings, etc. and people with last name "alexander". People are not listed in wikipedia by first name. `'mikkanarxi 02:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for alfred and simon. Will be cleaned right away. The utmost policy is common sense and wikipedia is not an indiscriminate colleciton of information And once again, please read and understand the purpose of disambiguation pages in WP:DAB. `'mikkanarxi 03:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Pavlov, Ivanov are last names, which are perfectly valid for disambiguation. I am picking random first names myself from time to time. These are unimportant articles, unlike, say heated political discussions, so people dont pay much attention to them, since you cannot do much harm to such articles, only some vandalism. `'mikkanarxi 03:23, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:CPomerance.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CPomerance.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:42, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
